USM Haller Dimensions & Grid Dimensions: All Sizes at a Glance

The entire USM Haller system is based on a single principle: the 75 cm grid. If you understand this grid, you can plan, replicate, or extend any USM furniture piece. Here you will find all the dimensions you need.

The Basic Principle: 75 × 35 cm

Each USM Haller compartment is 75 cm wide and 35 cm deep. The depth is always the same - there are no deeper or shallower modules. The width can be halved (37.5 cm), but this is a special size that is rarely used. The height per level is also approx. 35 cm (internal dimension), with the balls and feet adding a few more centimeters.

Standard Dimensions of the Most Common Configurations

Lowboard (1 compartment high)

Height: approx. 39.5 cm (incl. feet). Width: 75 / 150 / 225 / 300 cm (1-4 compartments). Depth: 35 cm. Typical use: TV board, hallway.

Sideboard (2 compartments high)

Height: approx. 74 cm (incl. feet). Width: 75 / 150 / 225 / 300 cm. Depth: 35 cm. Typical use: living room, office, dining room.

Shelving Unit (3-6 compartments high)

Height: approx. 109 / 143 / 178 / 213 cm. From 109 cm, USM recommends wall mounting. From 178 cm, it is strongly advisable for safety reasons.

USM Kitos Desk Dimensions

The USM Kitos is the desk in the system. Standard dimensions: 175 × 75 cm or 150 × 75 cm. Height-adjustable version (Kitos M): electrically from approx. 64 to 128 cm. The tabletop is deeper than the shelving system (75 cm instead of 35 cm) and uses its own base frame.

Individual Part Dimensions for DIY Builders

For those who build themselves with compatible parts:

Balls: Diameter 20 mm, chrome-plated steel, with 6 threaded holes (M6).

Connecting Tubes: Outer diameter 12.7 mm (½ inch), chrome-plated steel. Lengths: 345 mm (for 35 cm side), 695 mm (for 75 cm side). M6 thread at both ends.

Sheets/Panels: Steel sheet, powder-coated, approx. 0.8 mm thick. Dimensions: 724 × 344 mm (standard compartment) or 724 × 724 mm (top/bottom panel for double compartment).

Connectors (Allen key connectors): M6 thread, total length approx. 30 mm. Tightened with the special USM connector puller (5 mm Allen key, long).

Planning Tips

Wall Clearance: Plan for at least 2-3 cm clearance from the wall. The balls protrude slightly.

Load Capacity: A USM compartment can hold approx. 75 kg evenly distributed. This is more than sufficient for heavy items (record players, printers). No problem for books on a full shelf width.
