Furniture inspiration: USM Haller ideas on video
Photos show what a piece of furniture looks like – videos show how it feels: how the colour shines in the light, how a drop-down door opens and how much fits into a drawer. Here you will find USM Haller style furniture from our videos, sorted by type. For every idea we list the parts you need. Everything can be planned in the 3D configurator and built yourself with compatible parts.
Sideboards: the classic with drop-down doors
The sideboard is the best-known piece of the system. A popular layout has two levels: an open compartment on top for a lamp, books and decoration, with drop-down doors below that hide files, tableware or electronics. In graphite black it looks elegant and calm, in gentian blue the sideboard becomes the eye-catcher of the room.
You need outer panels for the bottom, top, sides and back, a drop-down door with spring hinge for each compartment and, if you like, a door handle with key. A compartment is usually 75 cm wide and 35 cm high and deep.
Lowboards: low, long, versatile
Long, low units fit under the window, against the wall behind the sofa or into the living room as a TV unit. Golden yellow brings good mood into the room, while a light cream shade looks soft and understated. Several lowboards side by side form one continuous surface that you can extend at any time.
The second video clearly shows the spring hinge inside: it holds the drop-down door open and closed. You will find more on widths, cables and parts lists in our article on the TV lowboard.
Small units: bedside table, side unit, trolley
A single compartment is enough for a piece of furniture of its own. With two levels you get a bedside table or a side unit next to the sofa or desk: a drop-down door or a drawer on top, an open compartment below – or the other way round.
A pull-out shelf turns the compartment into a drawer for glasses, charging cables or a notebook. With swivel castors instead of levelling feet, the cube becomes a trolley you can take anywhere.
Coffee table with glass top
A coffee table made of two by two compartments looks particularly light with glass shelves. The glass panels rest on glass shelf supports at the balls, and black panels underneath form a shelf for magazines and remote controls.
Tall shelving unit as a room divider
A tall shelving unit can divide a room without making it dark. Open compartments, glass shelves and closed drop-down doors alternate, so the unit looks good from both sides. Olive green goes wonderfully with plants, wood and books.
Important for tall units: from about three levels we recommend fixing the unit to the wall to prevent tipping.
A bold idea: a sofa framed by compartments
The system can do more than cabinets. In this example, golden yellow compartments form the frame and armrests of a sofa, and soft cushions make it comfortable. The cushions are not part of our range – but the idea shows how freely you can plan with balls, tubes and panels.
Drawer instead of drop-down door
Pull-out shelves run on slides and can be pulled out completely. That way you see everything at a glance – ideal for cutlery, documents or tools. In the video you can see the shelf sliding out and back in.
Many identical units: offices, practices and projects
Offices, practices and shops often need many identical units. White cabinets with drop-down doors and open compartments look bright and tidy and can be combined in any way. For larger quantities you automatically get a volume discount from us.
How your idea becomes your furniture
- Choose a colour: we offer eleven RAL colours. The cream and the light green from two of the videos are currently not in our range – beige and olive green are the closest alternatives.
- Set the dimensions: count the compartments side by side and on top of each other and measure the space. Add about 4 cm to the grid size for the outer dimension.
- Plan: in the 3D configurator you put your furniture together and instantly see dimensions, parts list and price.
- Order and assemble: add the parts list to your cart with one click. You only need a few tools for assembly.
