Real-Time Stock: The modula24 Stock API for Retailers, Dropshippers, and B2B Customers

Anyone selling replacement parts for USM Haller-style furniture systems knows the problem: a customer orders an outer shelf in olive green, and only when picking the order does it turn out that this size isn't currently in stock. A follow-up question, a delay, in the worst case a cancellation. The modula24 Stock API solves exactly that: it shows the actual stock in the Hamburg warehouse at any time - not yesterday's figures, but the current ones.

What the API does

The API provides the available quantity, price, item name, EAN, and shop link for every item in the limics24 range. Stock is fed directly from the warehouse system: every sale via limics24.com, eBay, or Amazon is deducted within a few minutes, and every incoming goods booking is visible immediately. So you see the same figures we do.

There are two warehouses: Hamburg for fast shipping within Europe, and China for direct sourcing and bulk quantities. Both are accessible through the same interface.

Benefits by use case

For retailers with their own shop: Integrate the Hamburg stock into your inventory management system and show your customers only what's actually available. Items with zero stock can be automatically marked as "unavailable" or hidden. Price changes also come through the API, so your pricing isn't based on outdated lists.

For dropshippers: You don't need your own warehouse or manual stock maintenance. One call per hour - or per order - is enough to rule out overselling. Since the data accounts for all sales channels, stock is accurate even when an item is in high demand on eBay at the same time.

For B2B customers and project business: Anyone planning a shelving system for an office, a practice, or a store can check before quoting whether all parts are available from the Hamburg warehouse. The CSV version of the API is suited for calculations in Excel: link it once, then refresh with a click. This way you can see at a glance whether a configuration in the desired color is immediately available or whether individual items need to be reordered from China.

For everyone: The interface is free, requires no registration and no API key, and is read-only - nothing can be changed by accident.

The response is a JSON object with the fields count (number of results), data_updated_at (time of the last stock change), and items. Each item contains:

CSV download (for Excel and inventory systems)

Anyone who doesn't want to code can use the CSV version:

Calling it in a browser downloads the file bestand-hamburg.csv - semicolon-separated, with a comma as the decimal separator, and UTF-8 with BOM, so German Excel opens it correctly without the import wizard. Columns: Warehouse, SKU, EAN, Item name, Price, Currency, Stock, Shop URL, Timestamp.

Two extra options: &in_stock=true returns only available items; &sep=, produces a comma-separated file with a period as the decimal separator, for English Excel or Google Sheets.

Tip for Excel: Via Data → Get Data → From Web, enter the CSV URL. Excel sets up the table as a refreshable query; clicking Refresh afterwards fetches the current stock at any time, without downloading the file again.

Recommendations for operation

Don't query the stock more often than you need - a call every 10 to 15 minutes is sufficient for shop systems, since the data updates on that cycle. Check the data_updated_at field to see whether anything has changed since the last call. And for larger projects, don't rely solely on the previous day's stock: querying once more shortly before ordering costs nothing and avoids surprises.
